High school football kicked off Friday night with zero week. A handful of schools took advantage of the early start.
Arrowhead WI 41 Minnetonka 21
Minnetonka traveled to Wisconsin to open their football season taking on Arrowhead. The Skippers jumped out to a 21-6 halftime lead, but were outscored 35-0 in the second half falling 41-21.
Edina 28 Holy Angels 14
Edina and Holy Angels played the first of their home and home series Friday night. Edina's Colin Ritter was the story. Ritter scored four touchdowns in the Hornets 28-14 win over the Stars. With that in mind you would have thought he had a big statistical night. Quite the opposite, six carries for just 10 yards. All four of his scores came from one yard out.
Columbia Heights 52 St. Paul Humboldt 24
Columbia Heights scored 38 first half points and led by 22 at halftime in their season opening night win. Running back Deshon Lenear ran for 246 yards and three touchdowns (70, 27 and 65 yards) in the win.
