So much for a smooth start to the Minnesota State Fair.

At about 2:45 p.m. on the fair's opening day, FOX 9 News began receiving reports that the Stratosphere tower was stuck with riders still on the swings.

Fresh French Fries sent a Tweet from the fairgrounds that showed the riders' legs dangling as the ride stalled -- and they said they're sending a fry guy up to the riders.

The ride was stuck for about 20 minutes, but all of the riders are now safely back on the ground.

Crews were able to fix the Stratosphere on Thursday, and fair organizers say it is back up and running.

The website for Mighty Midway Attractions describes the Stratosphere ride as "a soaring gondola" that flies riders in a circle around a 190-foot tower, offering views of the fairgrounds from above and beyond.
