
St. Cloud Regional Airport will soon be hosting flights by Allegiant Air. The airline is to return to scheduled commercial Central Minnesota air service, representatives told the St. Cloud Times.
An announcement is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at the airport.
St. Cloud is listed as a destination on Allegiant Air's website Thursday morning, confirming the move.
Allegiant's first flight scheduled is to Phoenix/Mesa Gateway Airport on Dec. 15. Round trip is listed at a cost of $225.98. Checked bags can cost up to $35 each and a carry-on charge could cost $25.
Allegiant Air offers nonstop, all-jet service on 181 routes involving 79 cities. It boasts a fleet of 58 MD-80 aircraft and six 757s. The airline's parent company, Allegiant Travel, on Aug. 1 announced a second-quarter net income growth of more than 110 percent year-over-year, to $25.2 million – it has reported 38 consecutive profitable quarters.
