Rosie O’Donnell, 50, is recovering from a heart attack

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Rosie O'Donnell suffered a heart attack last week and is now recovering at home, People Magazine reports.

"Took some Bayer aspirin/thank God/saved by a TV commercial," she wrote on her blog, in her usual lyrical way. O'Donnell said that it was a "miracle" that she was not one of the 200,000 women in the U.S. who die every year from a heart attack and that she's "happy to be alive."

Rosie says that after helping an "enormous woman" get out of her car in Nyack, N.Y., she started feeling pain in her chest and sore arms. At first, she thought she strained a muscle, but later experienced symptoms of nausea, clammy skin, and vomiting.

O'Donnell did some internet research on the symptoms of a heart attack, and though she had many of them, she did not call 911.

The next day, Rosie visited a cardiologist and says her LAD was 99% blocked and a stent was put in. On her website, she urges ladies to "listen to the voice inside/the one we all so easily ignore/CALL 911."

In a People.com story, O'Donnell's rep Cindi Berger stated that "She is now home and resting comfortably. She is very, very lucky."
