MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
Construction of the new Vikings stadium is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2013, according to a preliminary project schedule released Monday by the Minnesota Sports Facilities Commission.
Work will begin with utility lines and preparation of the east end of the Metrodome site before crews start building the new stadium's frame. The Vikings stadium should take shape by late 2015, with work on the roof and other enclosures continuing into 2016.
By mid-2016, scoreboards, sound systems and signage should be in place, giving the Vikings a new home stadium for the start of the 2016 season.
