What should you buy in August?

Posted: Updated:

Kids are headed back to school, and parents are looking to save some cash.  The month of August is a great time to find deals, but experts say you have to know what to look for.

The key is to think like a retailer.  You'll get the best deals on items stores are trying to move.  Here's a list of things to buy in August:

LAWN FURNITURE - The folks at Home Depot say they don't want patio furniture sitting around, so prices may drop as much as 50-75 percent.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL SUPPLIES -
Everything from backpacks to dorm décor are on sale.

ELECTRONICS  -
Companies roll out new items in the fall for the holiday season, and that means they're trying to clear out all the old technology.

SUMMER CLOTHES – You'll find deals on anything that gets a new line each year, from clothes to accessories to summer sleepwear, especially for women.  Swimsuits are included here.

BOATING & CAMPING SUPPLIES – When the weather changes, prices drop on these summer items.

POOL TOYS
– In the south, you can use them into the fall.  Not the case everywhere.

It seems like a simple proposition: give employees who work more than 40 hours a week the option of taking paid time off instead of overtime pay.
