A smartphone won't do your student's homework for them, but it might help. In fact, there are a few apps that both students and parents might want to consider this school year. Here are the apps mentioned by FOX 5's Doug Evans in this week's Tech Check:
Dictionary.com: It's a very simply a dictionary. You can type in or speak a word, and the app will give you the definition and a lot more. It also checks for trending words, to tell you more about what's hot and in the news.
Flashcards: No more messy index cards flying all over the place. This app lets you create flashcards for studying. They are stored on the cloud, so you can retrieve them on other devices.
myHomework. This is a scheduling app that helps you track your homework assignments, and it will notify you when it's due. So, you stay organized. Parents and kids can share an account to everybody knows what's going on.
All three of those apps are available for both Apple and Android devices.
