LAKE ST. CROIX BEACH, Minn. -
A hot-air balloon carrying more than fifteen passengers was to be towed to shore after it stalled over the St. Croix River near Afton Saturday.
The balloon tour regularly floats over the river for sightseeing flights, but this trip fell short due to a lack of wind to propel the craft.
The operator of the balloon called 911 upon descending. Luckily, a Washington County Sheriff's Department water patrol boat was already on the river. The balloon operator handed down a rope to officers on the boat, which safely towed the balloon to an on-shore landing.
No one was injured in the rescue.
