MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
A 17-year-old Minneapolis boy is expected to appear in court Friday on a first-degree murder charge in the death of 5-year-old Nizzel George.
George was sleeping on his grandmother's couch near the corner of Camden Ave. N. and 45th Ave. N on June 26 when bullets ripped through the house, striking the boy in the back.
Stephon Shannon has been in jail on $2 million bond since his July 2 arrest. He was initially charged with aiding and abetting murder before the first-degree murder indictment.
A 15-year-old boy was also arrested in the shooting and prosecutors have petitioned to have him tried as an adult.
