A grower in Iowa is recalling grape tomatoes that were distributed to stores in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan after the Minnesota Department of Agriculture found a sample was contaminated with salmonella.
So far, no illnesses have been reported; however, Menno Beachy, of Cresco, issued a recall on Wednesday seeking the return of one-pint containers labeled Menno Beachy Certified Organic Grape Tomatoes.
Beachy told the Associated Press he sent the tomatoes from his farm and another farm nearby to a food distributor in Minnesota which then sent 15 cases of a dozen one-pint containers to stores between July 26 and Aug. 6.
Customers who purchased the affected tomatoes are urged to either dispose of them or return them to the store where they were purchased.
