MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
Was trading Francisco Liriano to the division rival Chicago White Sox a move the Minnesota Twins will regret for years?
We'll get our first glimpse of the future without "Frankie" on Tuesday night, when Liriano is scheduled to start for the White Sox at Target Field.
Francisco Liriano has a career 4.33 ERA and 788 strikeouts in eight MLB seasons. This season, the lefty has a slightly higher 5.31 ERA and a 3-10 record in 17 starts.
Liriano was the steal of a 2003 trade with the San Francisco Giants, which sent catcher A.J. Pierzynski to the Bay Area in exchange for Joe Nathan, Boof Bonser and Liriano.
Liriano said Sunday on a conference call that he's excited to help the first-place White Sox finish strong down the stretch and win the AL Central.
He was traded by the Twins on Saturday for a pair of prospects: shortstop Eduardo Escobar and left-handed pitcher Pedro Hernandez.
