ELLSWORTH, Wis. (KMSP) -

A terrible accident on a theater stage changed her life forever. But an Ellsworth, Wisconsin woman never lost sight of her dreams. Tasha Schuh is back in the spotlight again, with a national title. She's just been named Ms. Wheelchair USA.

Schuh earned the title last weekend in Ohio. She competed against eight other contestants for the honor. Schuh said, "My dream is to share my story nationwide. I feel like this is a possible platform to help me."

Schuh currently works as a motivational speaker, sharing how she turned her own tragedy into triumph. Schuh is a quadriplegic. She took her final step, falling through a trap door on a theater stage nearly fifteen years ago. Now, at 31, Schuh has just finished a book called, "My Last Step Backwards". Schuh said, "Things happen in this life we just don't understand. We can't focus on that… None of us is guaranteed tomorrow."

Schuh says the other pageant contestants all shared her belief in the power of positive thinking. "A lot of people when they look at our lives, they see devastation, tragedy and sadness. This competition I think shows the exact opposite."

Schuh may have taken her last step, but it hasn't stopped her from moving forward. Schuh said, "I wouldn't trade my life with anyone."
