MANKATO, Minn. (KMSP) -
For football fans, the start of Vikings training camp is one of the greatest days of the year -- and if your team is undefeated, hopes for a dream season begin anew.
The players reported outside Gage Hall, where the separation between fans and players is nothing more than a thin gold line -- and the proximity seems to turn even adult fans into star-struck kids.
Even rookie defensive end Ernest Owusu was a little star-struck himself.
"I'm just real excited to be over here and have this whole experience of being a Viking," he said. "I'm going crazy right now."
Dozens of fans -- including Webb Summers -- were waiting to greet the players as they arrived.
"I've had season tickets since '67," he told FOX 9.
Six years ago, Summers grew a pony tail and promised to cut it off when the Vikings reached a Super Bowl. He hopes this will be the year.
