AVON, N.J. (AP) -- Prosecutors say no human body parts were among some debris that washed up on a central New Jersey beach this weekend.
Authorities kept swimmers away when the debris, intertwined with bones, clothing and netting, came ashore at different times in Avon on Sunday afternoon.
But Marc LeMieux, an assistant Monmouth County prosecutor, tells the Asbury Park Press that further testing by the county Medical Examiner's Office determined the bones were not human.
LeMieux said there were bones and other items -- but not clothing -- in the first clump of debris that washed ashore, while the second set included clothing but no bones.
