STILLWATER, Minn. (KMSP) -
The Stillwater Police Department is investigating a rash of home burglaries occurring in the early morning hours while the occupants are asleep inside.
Police say the suspects have been using open doors and windows to get inside, usually between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.; however, some break-ins have happened as early as midnight.
Officials say the burglars, described as two young men, have been taking purses, wallets and small electronics.
In several of the burglaries, neighbors saw the culprits enter the victim's home but did not report it to police until after the fact. Now, officers are urging residents to call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
Police also made the following recommendations for homeowners:
- Close and lock doors and windows
- Keep vehicles locked, even inside garages
- Keeping items like purses and wallets out of sight.
Anyone with information regarding these burglaries is asked to call the Stillwater Police Department's tip line at 651-351-4945.
