DETROIT (WJBK) -
49 year-old Harriet Johnson has died, after falling from the second story balcony of a west side duplex on Joy Road.
Detroit Police say the balcony's railing collapsed at approximately 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Johnson was with two other people on the balcony, when she stumbled and went to grab the iron railing.
Witnesses said another woman on the balcony tried to save Johnson, but ended up falling herself.
Both women fell about 20 to 25 feet to the concrete below, police said.
Fox 2 has learned Harriet Johnson had two sons, as well as grandchildren. We're also told she worked in housekeeping at the Marriot in downtown Detroit.
