RICE COUNTY, Minn. -
The Rice County Sheriff's Department is investigating the burning death of an unknown victim found in a vehicle fire early Sunday.
Sheriff's Deputies and Faribault Fire representatives reported to 150th St. W and Acorn Trail in Cannon City Township at 5:20 a.m. on a call of a vehicle fire. The victim was dead on arrival inside the burning automobile.
It is unclear if foul play was involved. The case is being investigated jointly by the Sheriff's and State Fire Marshall's Offices and an autopsy is pending, to be conducted by the Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office in hopes to identify the victim.
