Construction expected to cause major delays on GWB for 3 months

MYFOXNY.COM -

The first real test of traffic congestion as a result of the major renovation to the Alexander Hamilton Bridge didn't amount to more than the usual traffic tie-ups for a Monday morning commute.

Major delays are expected for motorists heading into the city from the Gorege Washington Bridge, especially during the morning rush in the months to come.

Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich is keeping a close eye on how that massive construction project could impact traffic on and around the George Washing Bridge and in his town.

The inbound side of the George Washington Bridge will be reduced to one lane as drivers come onto the Cross Bronx Expressway near the Major Deegan Expressway.

The mayor is concerned commuters will attempt to circumvent the system by ending up on his side roads.

The mayor isn't the only one with concerns as many motorists are as well.

These projects usually can't occur without being of some inconvenience. They are hoping this one project won't be that bad.
