MADISON LAKE, Minn. -
A Mankato, Minn. tanning salon owner's bid to hold the "World's Largest Bikini Parade" for breast cancer prevention awareness is facing full-frontal resistance from the Madison Lake City Council.
Cynthia Frederick is aiming for the parade to be a fundraiser to increase public awareness of health benefits of higher vitamin D levels. The Council claims the idea is not in step with the family tone of the southern Minnesota community's July 28 Paddlefish Days parade.
Despite the Council's rebuffing, the parade will go on -- bikinis and all, reports The Free Press of Mankato reports
Madison Lake City Administrator Kelly Steele corresponded with the League of Minnesota Cities, which states that the community can't bar specific parade entries.
