MONTGOMERY, Minn. (KMSP) -
A non-violent fugitive from the South Dakota Correctional Facility was spotted by police in Montgomery, Minn. on Friday, but was able to elude officers on patrol.
Eric Harcey, 26, walked away from the minimum security facility in South Dakota late Thursday evening. The 26-year-old was sentenced in July 2009 to 15 years in prison with 10 years suspended for grand theft.
The Montgomery Police Department was notified that Harcey might be headed for Montgomery.
Officers on patrol Friday spotted Harcey walking in the area and tried to stop him, but the fugitive ran in and out of a garage before running down the railroad tracks.
Eric Harcey was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white t-shirt. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911.
Harcey is also a suspect in the theft of a white 2005 Buick LeSabre with South Dakota license DV3499
