The Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness is continuing its fight to stop a cell phone tower near the BWCA.
The group is asking the Minnesota Supreme Court to overturn an appeals court ruling allowing AT&T to proceed with a 450 foot tower near Ely, Minn.
Friends of the Boundary Waters says in a petition filed Thursday the appeals court misinterpreted state law when it ruled the tower would not have a significant impact.
AT&T says the tower would extend cell phone service to residents east of Ely and make it easier for paddlers to call for help in emergencies.
