The second annual Pig & Whiskey is returning to downtown Ferndale this weekend for BBQ, whiskey sampling and outdoor entertainment for all ages.
After enjoying enormous success in 2011, the event has grown to two full days: Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15. There will also be a "Pre-Party" on Friday, July 13.
Executive Chef and Regional Manager Omar Mitchell and Executive Chef Shawn Thomas joined FOX 2 this morning from the Rub Pub in downtown Detroit.
Similar to last year, Pig & Whiskey will showcase Southeast Michigan's best barbecue restaurants while highlighting unique and delicious pork, beef and barbecue dishes. There will also be plenty of bourbon, scotch and whiskey brands available to sample as well as a beer tent for those seeking an alternative to whiskey.
The event will run Saturday, July 14 from 11 a.m. to midnight, Sunday, July 15 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The "Pre-Party" will begin at 6 p.m. and last until midnight.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southeastern Michigan creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. They believe that every child deserves a safe and supportive place to grow.
