ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

Two people are being questioned by police after a fight on a Metro Transit bus that escalated into a murder at the intersection of Rice Street and Aurora Avenue early Wednesday morning.

The victim and suspects boarded the Route 16 metro bus and started fighting somewhere along the route. The group exited the bus at Rice and Aurora, where the murder occurred.

Police were called to the intersection around 1 a.m. Wednesday on a report of two people fighting. Officers found an unresponsive man and two other people at the scene. The unresponsive man died at the scene.

The man's death is not believed to be random, and police are still trying to figure out what led to the fight on the bus. Witnesses said the group wasn't kicked off the bus, even though they were fighting.

Weapons were recovered, but police wouldn't specify which kind.

No arrests have been made at this time, but police believe at least one of the two people they are questioned was involved in the bus fight. It is not known at this time when or where each of the individuals boarded the bus.

Metro Transit police and St. Paul police are working together on the investigation.
