Jennifer Nibbe was sentenced Monday to 25 1/2 years in prison for the August 2010 shooting death of her husband at their home in Lake Crystal, Minn.
Nibbe, 34, pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder. She will be eligible for parole after serving 2/3 of the sentence.
Nibbe initially told police it was an intruder who shot her husband James. She then staged a fake crime scene, but investigators couldn't find any signs of a struggle or a break-in. It had rained earlier that night, but no recent footprints or tire tracks could be found outside the home.
According to the charges, Nibbe had been texting with another man, even sending him nude photos. Nibbe wrote in a journal, "I've always had feelings for him. I can't stop thinking about him and I together."
