1 of 3 horses loose on highway hit by semi near Crookston

A semi driver tried to avoid three horses that were loose on a highway near Crookston, Minn., but struck and killed one that he couldn't steer clear of.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the accident happened around 2:15 a.m. Monday about five miles west of Crookston on U.S. Truck Highway 2.

The semi driver moved over a lane and missed one of the horses, but hit and killed another one.
