If you could have a conversation with a 12-year-old version of yourself, what would you say?

That's a question a 32-year-old filmmaker recently answered in a massively popular YouTube video. (Click here to watch.)

When he was 12-years-old, Jeremiah McDonald left a VHS cassette for the older version of himself.

"I think I'd like to talk to myself in the future," said the young McDonald. "Yes, that is something I'd like to do."

Twenty years later, the older McDonald watched the tape labeled, "Don't watch until the future" and recorded the results.

The two cover everything from Star Wars action figures, Dr. Who and pets.

"Is Molly still alive?" asked the younger McDonald of his childhood dog.

"No, dogs don't live that long," replied the older McDonald. "Are all of your questions going to be about pets? …the answer is that ‘they're all dead.'"

The video has some touching moments as well. For instance, the younger McDonald pulls out a drawing of a rabbit named "Roy" and the older McDonald reflects that he doesn't draw that character anymore.

"I don't draw much anymore. I wanted to be an animator, then I got lazy and got into filmmaking," said the older McDonald.

The video has received more than 5.1 million views. Click here to watch.
