1.4 million travelers expected on roads this holiday week

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

Despite an overnight increase, gas prices in Michigan are 30 cents less per gallon than last year's Fourth of July holiday.

That's one reason why AAA expects 1.4 million Michiganders to hit the highways this week with vacation stops in their plans. That number is 16 percent higher than 2011 and the highest number of expected travelers since 2008.

Here's what you can expect to pay at the pump in several popular travel destinations:

Traverse City: $3.53
Chicago: $3.82
Indianapolis: $3.22
Cincinnati: $3.35
Detroit: $3.52
