MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
In response to bar closing time violence in downtown Minneapolis, Hennepin County Hennepin County is doubling the amount of deputies deployed to downtown.
Starting Friday, deputies will work with Minneapolis police officers into bar close hours. Deputies will work from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. instead of their previous 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. walking beat.
The deputy schedule shift is part of an overall downtown safety plan with a goal of ensuring downtown remains a vibrant and safe place for professionals, residents and visitors.
