EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (KMSP) -
Every two seconds, someone in the US needs a blood transfusion, and in order to keep up with the demand, the Red Cross must collect more than 17,000 units per day. But, the early summer and midweek holidays have decreased the number of donations, and on Monday, the American Red Cross announced a nationwide emergency need for donations.
Since a fear of needles is a major reason that people don't donate, FOX 9 Medical Expert Dr. Archelle Georgiou demonstrates that blood donation process is quick and relatively painless.
