Posted: Updated:

Imagine having to re-teach your brain a lifetime of information.

A year before her daughter Karma was born, a car accident nearly took Makya's life. Her body survived, but Makya's brain would have to learn to live again.

"There's still a lot of things I had to learn, like the walking and the talking and how not to drool while I was talking," she said.

During the rehabilitation process Makya had an epiphany -- a new calling in life and a business idea born from her strong desire empower parents ...

"I really learned to appreciate the human mind after that," she said. "While I was pregnant with (Karma) everyday I was reading and making books for her."

Her theory is that the mind has multiple intelligence. And her store, Smarty Pants, has learning tools for each one.

Whether or not good Karma played a role in her survival, a reminder to keep paying it forward is by her side every single day.
