MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -

Minneapolis police are investigating the murder of 76-year-old Lois Swenson, a woman who fought for peace and turned a shoulder to advice to move from her north side neighborhood.

Police found Swenson dead in her bedroom around noon Wednesday on the 2200 block of Vincent Avenue North. Friends requested a welfare check after they hadn't heard from her.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office ruled the cause of death was a homicide.

The Star Tribune reports Swenson taught sixth grade in Robbinsdale and took leaves to travel the world. Jane Johnson says her longtime friend was nonviolent and always giving unconditional love.

No arrests have been made in the case yet.
