Lightning possible cause of several house fires on stormy morning

Posted: Updated:

Possible lightning strikes may have caused several house fires during Thursday morning's storms in the Twin Cities and central Minnesota.

Around 11 a.m., firefighters in Prior Lake were working on an attic fire, and Apple Valley firefighters were called to a home with smoke showing out the back.

Another possible lightning-sparked fire was reported in Elko New Market just after 11 a.m. The garage was filling up with smoke when firefighters were called to the house.

Lightning struck a gas line in Apple Valley on Monday, causing two house fires and forcing an evacuation of the block.
