MINNETONKA, Minn. (KMSP) -
The Minnetonka burglar has been caught.
Minnetonka police arrested Jeffrey Boemer on Wednesday in Minneapolis. He is believed to be responsible for the burglaries of about 20 homes in Minnetonka, targeting high-end jewelry, small items, coins and cash.
Investigators had been trying to catch up with Boemer for the past month and a half. He broke into homes by popping off screens and entering through windows, and even smashed a window open with a landscaping rock in one case.
Investigators closely watched Metro Transit Bus Route 675, which Boemer regularly used between Minnetonka and downtown Minneapolis homeless shelters.
Boemer's criminal history includes half a dozen burglary convictions, along with an arson and manslaughter conviction from the mid 1980s.
