Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Melanie Davy and her father, Shon, is asked to call police.
LAKEVILLE, Minn. (KMSP) -
Police are canceling a crime alert that was issued for a 15-year-old girl and her father -- a 38-year-old with a criminal record and severe medical issues that require supervision -- now that the two have been found.
Officials say Shon Allen Davy failed to return his daughter, Melanie Meri Davy, after visitation on Monday. A crime alert was issued for the pair on Wednesday.
Officials say tips from citizens lead a Minnesota Sate Patrol trooper to find them shortly after 7:30 a.m. on Thursday.
The father and daughter were found in Lake Elmo, walking from the restroom facilities at a restaurant where citizens recognized them from TV broadcasts.
Due to Shon Davy's criminal history, law enforcement officers said they were concerned about his daughter's welfare. In fact, Davy is supposed to remain under the supervision of a personal care attendant due to his medical needs.
Shon Davy is currently being held at the Dakota County Jail pending charges of deprivation of parental rights.
Melanie Davy has been returned to her mother.
