There's a not too surprising trend beginning to take shape in the WNBA. The defending champion Minnesota Lynx continue to destroy anything and anyone in their paths. The squad ran its record to 9-0 with a 93-73 dismantling of the Tulsa Shock Saturday night.
The team continued their white hot shooting against the Shock making nearly 57% of their field goals and were led by Maya Moore who scored a team high 26 points, two shy of her career best. It marks the fifth consecutive game that the team has shot at least 50% from the field.
Trailing by two after the first quarter, and watched as the Shock extended the lead to eight with 6:26 left in the second quarter. Minnesota then went on a back breaking 17-2 run to regain momentum and the lead taking a two point lead of their own to the halftime break.
Defense and hot shooting from the outside was the story in the second half. The Lynx hit three pointers on five straight offensive trips, and Moore scored 14 points in the quarter to extended the lead to 12 points after the third.
Monica Wright, who has been inserted into the starting lineup while Seimone Augustus rests her injured quad, scored a season high 18 points, while Rebekkah Brunson added 15 and Taj McWilliams-Franklin scored 11.
The Lynx continue their road trip Friday night when they head to Phoenix.
