A line of severe thunderstorms, heavy rain, damaging winds and hail passed across Minnesota Sunday night. Flash flood conditions were reported in the southwest metro, bringing traffic to a halt in areas and toppling a 48-foot grain bin in southern Minnesota.
Tornado warnings were issued for Le Sueur, Scott and Sibley counties. The worst of the damage occurred in the cities of Henderson, Jordan and Belle Plaine – winds sent the 48-foot grain bin toppling in to a farm field in the latter.
Xcel Energy reported 272 power outages affecting 18,039 customers as of 9:30 p.m.
Severe thunderstorm warnings were in play across the metro until 10 p.m., said FOX 9 Meteorologist Marina Jurica – though aftershocks of severe weather followed into late Sunday.
No weather-related injuries were reported, and tornadoes were not spotted -- though Jurica noted it is impossible at this time to tell if any twisters developed, as the storm was "rain-wrapped."
