A few months ago, Best Buy announced it would close 50 stores nationwide, and now it's confirmed that at least two of those stores are in the metro.
On Saturday, Best Buy confirmed that the Southdale Circle location in Edina and the store on Earl Brown Drive in Brooklyn Park will both close permanently on Thursday, June 21.
In a statement, the company said:
"This was not an easy decision to make. We chose these stores carefully, and are working to ensure the impact to our employees will be as minimal as possible, while serving all customers in a convenient ant satisfying way."
Best Buy plans to provide full pay and benefits to the employees at the two shuttering stores through Aug. 8, and will also help employees find other positions within the company if available. Severance packages will also be available.
