DETROIT (WJBK) -

Wayne County commissioners vote 14-1 to censure the county executive, and this time they actually named Bob Ficano in the resolution.

As the Board of Commissioners were giving Ficano an symbolic spanking downstairs, Fox 2's Charlie LeDuff was upstairs asking him had he lost the confidence of the county government.

"Some people I trusted obviously betrayed that trust, but more importantly they not only betrayed the trust of me but the people of Wayne County.  Those people have since been held accountable, and I apologized for this back at the end of last year during the State of the County, and at this point we have a new team.  We've been moving forward.  The county is functioning," Ficano said.

"So, we're going to continue to move forward, and at this point, I know were in the election season.  I know there's a lot of political theater that goes with it, but I'm just going to simply move forward."

Then I asked Ficano if he had lost the confidence of the people.  After all, he was booed at a local Memorial Day parade.

"Actually, I've had a tremendous amount of people come up to me and tell me to make sure I stay in there.  Much more of a positive response than I've had any negative response.  Every day people come up to me.  I mean, I go buy my own groceries, and so when I'm up at the deli counter, they come up and wish me luck and tell me that they want me to continue on."

I'm glad Ficano's feeling good about himself because I remember the last local official who got harangued at a public event.  Kwame Kilpatrick's federal corruption trial begins this fall.
