Police are investigating a homicide in north Minneapolis that left a man dead on Tuesday.
Officers blocked off portions of the streets near the scene at West Broadway and North Emerson avenues for a few hours after friends of 25-year-old Parrish Cassini Gray stopped to ask an officer for help.
A Minneapolis police officer conducting a traffic stop in the 1100 block of West Broadway shortly after 7 p.m. when Gray's helpers told the officer that their friend had been shot and they were trying to get him to a hospital.
Officers and emergency medical staff attempted first aid at the scene, but Gray died at the scene.The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office ruled a single gunshot wound to the chest was the official cause of death.
Police interviewed the car's occupants to try to determine if a shots-fired call made from nearby Irving Avenue North was related to the death, but no arrests have been made.
A crowd of onlookers also gathered near the scene as police responded on Tuesday night.
