An 80-year-old Blaine man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Monday morning on Highway 65 at Cloverleaf parkway.
The crash occurred after Monday's morning commute, at 9:51 a.m. The Pontiac Grand Am driven by the 80-year-old was crossing Highway 65 eastbound on Cloverleaf when it was struck by a southbound Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by a 32-year-old male. The victim died from his injuries at the scene.
It is not believed that alcohol or drugs played a factor in this crash, and the Ranger driver, from Cambridge, is cooperating with the investigation, said Chris Olson, Blaine Police Chief. The man suffered no injuries and has been released from the scene.
The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of family. The fatal crash is currently under investigation by the Blaine Police Department, the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
