President Obama gives fifth grader excuse to miss school

Posted: Updated:
GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. (KMSP) -

At one point or another in our lives we have missed school when we weren't sick. And most likely we had to find a solid reason that would stick and be believable. Tyler Sullivan, a fifth grader in Rochester has about as good of one as one could think of. It wouldn't be believable either, if it weren't for the proof.

A note from President Obama on official White House stationary that says:

Mr. Ackerson-

Please Excuse Tyler...he was with me!

Barack Obama

His dad, Ryan a recently hired employee at Honeywell had the honor of introduced the President as he visited the Honeywell plant in Golden Valley. President Obama spoke about the hope for companies to hire more veterans as they return from Afghanastan and Iraq similar to what Honeywell is doing.

When Tyler returns to school on Monday, Mr. Ackerson will probably be shown the note excusing him from school on Friday, but he won't be able to keep it.

"Do you think he'll be excused?" asked FOX 9's Rob Olson.

"Yeah" said Sullivan.
