Longtime media personality George Chappel, better known by sports fans as Dark Star, was found dead at his home Friday afternoon at the age of 66.
Chappel graced the radio airwaves on WCCO for 25 years before accepting a buyout and leaving the station in 2010.
He recently had a weekly appearance on KFAN with Dan Cole every Friday. Chappel was also working at Canterbury Park.
Chappel worked as a substitute host at KSTP and handicapped horses for the St. Paul Pioneer Press before his full time job at WCCO in 1985.
Chappel's cause of death is not yet known.
