Bob Sirott's One More Thing about the pictures we send through cyberspace

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

One more thing about the pictures we send through cyberspace.

What gets posted, tweeted and e-mailed can take on a life of its own. YouTube's latest hit video features state representative Mike Bost's rant on the floor of the Illinois House. We're pretty much done showing this on the news now, but his tirade will be there forever now in the always growing, but never filled up on-line world.

I've been thinking about all this ever since someone got a hold of an old picture taken of me promoting a CBS show way back in 1983. It's about the new home entertainment products at that year's consumer electronics show.

I'm not sure how it resurfaced, but someone thought it was just a funny picture of some anonymous guy and posted it on Facebook. That was about six months ago.

Now it just won't go away. Recently, the popular web site, which refers to itself as the hottest most social content on the web, featured a list of 48 things that will make you feel old.

Like a 1991 cover of People Magazine. The caption says "these were TV's hottest teens 25 years ago." The numbers on their heads are their ages today. This picture was number 25 on Buzzfeed's list.

But guess what number 16 is? Yup, that's me. The caption says "30 years later you can carry all this in your pocket."

Just another reminder to be careful what you're mindlessly doing on Facebook---it might resurface in 30 years or so.

We'd love to hear from you. Go to to view the One More Thing archives and leave your comments. Leave a short, snappy one, make us think, enlighten us, or amuse us and it doesn't matter if you agree or disagree -- you'll have a good chance of getting on TV.
