The Lynx continued their undefeated start to the 2012 season with a 84-71 win over Seattle Sunday night at Target Center. The story of the night for the Lynx was on the defensive end of the floor, and the was summed up by the Storm's first possession. With the shot clock winding down, the Storm scrambled to get a shot and were forced into a shot clock violation.
"I told the team this was the first time this year that I thought that we played Lynx defense," said Head Coach Cheryl Reeve. "And I thought that it didn't matter which player came in, they were on point with the scouting report."
On the offensive end of the floor, Maya Moore led the way with 19 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the floor, including 5-for-7 from deep. Seimone Augustus, Monica Wright and rookie Devereaux Peters all hit double figures in scoring with 10,11 and 10 points each.
"I think today was really good. I think we did some really good things on the floor," said Guard Lindsay Whalen. "I felt like we had a little more flow to our game. We shared the ball well, played really connected on defense, and I think tonight was a really good day for us."
The team out rebounded the Storm 40-27, marking the first time this season the team has hit 40 rebounds in a game.
The Lynx improved to 4-0 on the season, the second-best start in franchise history. They will attempt to tie the best start at 5 wins when they travel to Washington DC on Wednesday.
