Choice Words in State Party Politics

Former Michigan National Committeeman and fundraiser extraordinaire Peter Secchia has had a rough go of it this past year.

He physically was weak enough at one point that he could not take his usual seat right behind MSU basketball coach Tom Izzo as the Spartans scrambled to win the national championship.

But despite his physical ailments, there is nothing wrong with his mouth.

"Mark Brewer is a jerk. He's always been a jerk."

Mr. Secchia was merely asked what he thought of the state Democratic Party chair who is as partisan as Republican Mr. Secchia.

"He is an evil guy who wants to attack, tack, tack...Brewer isn't chair of the Democrat Party, he's chairman of investigations. He's always got an accusation on someone," the West Michigan GOP-er laments.

Credit Mr. Brewer with getting under Mr. Secchia's tough hide as the Republican has seen Brewer unseat a sitting Chief Justice on the State Supreme Court and is now going after a former Democrat who flipped to the GOP last week.

Brewer's been making political hay at the expense of Rep. Roy Schmidt whose hopes of this story lasting a day or two is now just a fond memory.

With the Michigan State Police now on the case, all of a sudden an apparent minor case of alleged candidate fraud has all the signs of blossoming into something much uglier. Which is why the Rockford MSP Post was not given the assignment just to avoid any appearance of West Michigan favoritism.

All of this of course has Mr. Brewer smiling.

Not so much for the guy who just called Brewer a "jerk."

Oh boy, the anti-Granholm mob will have fun with this.  They are talking in California about running the former Michigan governor for something as part of the “new generation” of D’s on the west bank.
