Naked birthday boy barges into neighbors' homes, steals car

HUDSON, Wis. (KMSP) -

Imagine a naked teenager appearing in your living room -- or stealing your car. That's what happened on a normally quiet block in north Hudson on Saturday.

Bill Shirley has lived on St. Croix Street for 50 years and thought he had seen it all -- but on Saturday he saw more than he wanted to.

"Think its tough in the cities? It can be just as nasty around here," he said. "Can be -- even on a street like this."

No one was seriously hurt in the spree of oddity, and police told FOX 9 News the young man has no mental health history. According to officers, he was celebrating his 17th birthday when things suddenly got strange.

Kelsey Knudson took a picture of where the 17-year-old birthday boy peeled off his pants and shirt -- even his underwear, until he was left in his birthday suit. After dropping off his clothes, he turned and headed to his neighbor's home.

"Came bustin' through the door," Knudson recalled. "Standing there, completely out of it -- didn't know what he was doing."

At first, Knudson thought it was a prank -- but with his baby son in the room, he wasn't going to take any chances.

"Grabbed him by the neck and forcefully shoved him out the door," Knudson recalled.

That's when things got even weirder. After Knudson kicked him out of the house, the teen ran half-way down the street and ran into another home. When the dog started barking and the homeowner screamed, he dove -- still naked -- out the window and took off down the street again.

Next, the teen found a Lincoln Navigator with the keys inside. Though the owner tried to block him, the teen revved the engine and took off. Though he was going fast, he didn't get far. He wiped out making a turn near where he started, and was arrested by police shortly thereafter.

Officers transported the teen to a hospital to treat some minor cuts, but officers won't know if drugs or alcohol were involved until blood tests come back.

The 17-year-old was back at school on Wednesday, and teachers and students told FOX 9 News he's a good kid who may have made some bad choices.
