A St. Anthony mother of five confided in her boss she was scared of her husband just hours before he killed her, then himself.

45-year-old Lora Wright was shot to death by her husband, 52-year-old Sam Wright, who then turned the handgun on himself. It happened in the driveway of their duplex on 39th Ave. NE around 8:30 p.m. Monday night.

Four of the couple's children were home at the time, ranging in age from 16 to 25.

The 25-year-old was shot in the leg while trying to stop his father. He was taken to the hospital and was back at home Tuesday.

Family friend William Porter said he knew Sam Wright was upset, but never guessed he'd get violent.

"He was more like… what should I do? And told him, I said man, just walk away…just walk away," Wright said. "Don't do nothing stupid. He was like oh no, I ain't going to do nothing. I'll call you back."

Lora Wright's manager at Sunburst Transit, said she was a very popular school bus driver, but had said only Monday she was considering a restraining order on her husband.
