Contractor Keith Griffin pleads guilty in Wayne County probe

DETROIT (AP) -

A contractor has pleaded guilty to conspiring to commit fraud with a high-ranking Wayne County official.

Keith Griffin of Carmel, Ind., was accused of plotting with Michael Grundy to get money from a public health program and return some to Grundy as kickbacks.

Griffin pleaded guilty Thursday in Detroit federal court and admitted taking more than $750,000 without providing services.

He likely faces three years in prison but has agreed to cooperate with the FBI in the ongoing investigation. Grundy was an assistant county executive until last fall and also faces corruption charges.

U.S. Attorney Barb McQuade says investigators are ensuring that "no stone is unturned."
