Atlanta Weather Forecast - Wednesday

Updated:
SUNNY, PLEASANT DAYS AHEAD

Yesterday's cold front is lingering across Georgia this morning. And while it is no longer triggering scattered rain, we will find areas of fog near the front. Fog shouldn't be a big issue for much of the metro area. After any patchy morning fog lifts, a sun-filled sky awaits for the next couple of days. Sunshine and highs in the mid to upper 70s will be expected today and Thursday.

NEXT COLD FRONT & CHANCE OF RAIN FRIDAY

As a center of low pressure lifts into the Great Lakes, the trailing cold front will sweep through north Georgia early Friday. This will bring a brief period of scattered showers and possible thundershowers during the morning hours. Rainfall amounts should be light and confined mainly to areas near and north of Atlanta. Behind this rain, Friday afternoon will be partly cloudy and pleasant with high temperatures near 80 degrees.

WARM AND DRY WEEKEND....TURNING STORMY NEXT WEEK...

The weather will be tranquil and a little warmer than average for late April over the weekend. Low temperatures in the metro area will be near 60 with highs near 80 both weekend days. The next low pressure system will roll out of the Rockies for early next week. It will push a warm front and associated scattered showers into our area Monday. But the more active weather with this system will affect us Tuesday. As the cold front sweeps through, rain and thunderstorms will be expected. This system will likely have quite a severe weather history behind it before it arrives here (severe weather will be expected across the Southern Plains over the weekend) - but it remains to be seen how potent it will be once it gets into Georgia. We'll need to keep an eye on Tuesday for possible stronger storms or severe weather.
