100 deadliest days for teen driving

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -

Summer is here. That means that the kids are out of school and summer vacation plans are in full gear. It also means that the 100 deadliest days of the year for teen drivers have begun.

In 2009, about 3,000 teens in the United States aged 15–19 were killed and more than 350,000 were treated in emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor-vehicle crashes.

Nine of the 10 deadliest days for youth on our nation's highways were between the months of May and August.

Working with Allstate, the Minnesota Department of Traffic Safety and Minnesota high school students, BestPrep has created an interactive PowerPoint presentation that teaches students about risky driving behaviors to avoid, the purpose of insurance and what determines their insurance premiums.
